Authentic Edo period, 1814, re-strike Japanese erotic art shunga woodblock print picture by Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849). This re-strike woodblock print is from 2020 and was published by Yamamoto. There are ONLY two Hokusai Octopus Shunga WOODBLOCK PRINT remakes, and this rendition here is considerably better than the one put out in 2018, which has, in all honesty, an ugly, fat white line ("the gutter") running down the middle of the picture, essentially ruining it, in my opinion. Not here, as this 2020 re-strike is large and gorgeous, and of course, in perfect condtion with excellent colors and impressions! No backing. Please see and judge from photos provided.
Shunga picture measures approximately 24 cm x 34 cm.
A fantastic shunga woodblock print re-strike of the most famous & renowned shunga in history, Hokusai's "The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife."
