About this classic shunga series: "Today one of Kunisada's most valued works, Shunka shuto shiki no nagame is exquisitely printed and would have been an expensive book to produce. This indicates that it may have been a commission by a wealthy townsmen. The appeal of this album lies in the clarity of the imagery, which is not cluttered by surrounding blocks of texts."
Excerpt from P.190 of Japanese Erotic Fantasies by Chris Uhlenbeck and Margarita Winkel.
A great antique shunga scene with strong lesbian connotations. Two women are in a bathhouse exchanging lustful looks with one another. The woman squatting down, who's apparently washing, is actually fingering herself while staring intently at the other woman, betraying her sexual desires for the semi-clothed female patron.
