The "-zu" suffix at the end of the word "Gokuraku" indicates that it is a picture or illustration book.  So, the title suggests that the book contains 700 illustrations related to Buddhist concepts of Hell and Paradise.)  
 
Description: 100% genuine & authentic Japanese woodblock print picture book set of three from c.1800.  Condition shows some signs of wear, tears/repairs in some areas, but the actual pictures are still clear and the impressions are very good.  Please see and judge from photos.
 
Size of each woodblock print picture book closed:  21.5 cm x 15.5 cm .  Approximately 26 woodblock print picture pages throughout.  The remaining pages in the books are kanji text pages.  Two of the volumes cover the aspects of Hell and the final volume deals with Paradise.  There are numerous scenes of demons and devils torturing the damned.
