Publisher: Hakubunkan. About this shunga series: "The printing is exquisite, with a generous use of mica (metallic pigments) and bokashi (tonal gradation) to express the lovely quality of the kimono." Excerpt from shunga reference book, Japanese Erotic Fantasies by C. Uhlenbeck & Margarita Winkel, P.239. The picture depicted here also makes use of the deluxe printing technique urushi-e, which is a type of black lacquer used here to add sheen and lustre to the lovers' hair.
