1850 - Kunisada - Shunga - Fox Spirit - Lethal Vagina 3/3

SKU: han3315

Authentic Edo period original, from the Kaei period (1848 - 1853), Japanese erotic art shunga woodblock print picture by Kunisada Utagawa (1786-1865).  From the shunga series, Shunshoku Tamazoroi (An Assortment of Pleasure in Spring).  Shunga picture measures 24.5 cm x 28.9 cm.  Very good colors and impressions.  Also some deluxe printing techniques such as mica (metallic pigments), bokashi shading on the woman's face (to highlight her death!), as well as gauffrage used on the fox to accentuate its fur.  Condition is fair+/decent with some wear, soiling, wormage, thin washi (Japanesse rice paper) backing.  Please see and judge from photos.

This is the third and final scene of three parts from the shunga series, Shunshoku Tamazoroi.  The male apparition is nowhere to be found now, while the fox resembles more a fox spirit than an actual fox like the previous scene.  It also appears to be on its way out, yet before it does so, it calmly watches on as a giant destructive vagina wreaks havoc on others passing by in the night.  Sadly for the Japanese beauty, the encounter with the fox spirit and male ghost has left her deceased, indicated by the light blue coloring (bokashi shading) of her face.
