A superb and colorful Edo-period shunga picture book by Utagawa Kuniyoshi, c.1835, filled with beautifully executed woodblock print illustrations. The book combines wonderfully intimate erotic scenes with exceptionally detailed views of everyday Edo life, including bustling interiors, dozing cats (Kuniyoshi's favorite pet and was said to own many!), riverside activity, and seasonal scenes. Rich blues, reds and intricate textile patterns appear throughout, showcasing Kuniyoshi’s remarkable skill as both a figure and narrative artist.
